About

Atlanta Rod and Manufacturing Co., Inc. is a domestic manufacturer and has been custom manufacturing anchor bolts, headed bolts, construction and specialty fasteners since 1980. Our products are critical in the construction and maintenance of buildings, roads, bridges, power generation plants, and oil and gas projects both domestically and internationally. In 2020, Atlanta Rod joined the Birmingham Fastener Group.

Our 200,000 square foot facility on 40 acres enables us to manufacture largescale construction products as well as smaller short runs of special parts. Atlanta Rod has the ability to shear and saw cut materials from 1/4” to 24” diameter. Our threading capacity includes cut and rolled threads from 1/4” to 4-1/2” in diameter and metric equivalents in UNC, UNF, Acme, 8 pitch, and metric. Currently, Atlanta Rod hot forges bolts from 1/2” to 2-1/4” and nuts from 1/2” to 3” in diameter. Our expansive manufacturing capabilities allow for the production of high-quality standard fasteners and customized specialty and non-standard products. Atlanta Rod maintains a substantial inventory of stainless, carbon, and alloy material for the immediate manufacture and shipment of fasteners.

As an ISO 9001 certified company, we are committed to making high-quality, domestic fasteners at competitive prices and with lead times that meet our customers’ delivery schedules.

History

Atlanta Rod and Manufacturing Co., Inc. was incorporated in the State of Georgia in September of 1984. Atlanta Rod began as a rep agency representing all-thread rod manufacturers for low carbon, alloys, and stainless threaded rod. We secured warehouse space and began to stock rod. From that beginning, we purchased a saw and chamfering equipment to cut and modify rod for special applications.

In 1985, we purchased a much larger warehouse on two acres in Cumming, Georgia. We continued to purchase additional equipment and, eventually, began to do some of our own threading in 1986 and 1987 with cut threaders and roll threading equipment. At this time, we started purchasing domestic steel rounds to thread for various applications, not just modifying all-thread rod.

In 1993, we purchased the property we currently occupy in Lavonia, Georgia from Bistal Steel Company. This much larger space enables us to stock over 20 to 40-foot steel rounds, which we either cut or shear to then manufacture our products. Over the years, Atlanta Rod has maintained consistent year-to-year growth allowing us to add new equipment and expand our customer base. In 2005, we purchased our first press for a long-range plan of forging headed parts and eventually forging nuts. In 2009, we began to forge bolts and nuts daily.

We have continued to grow and maintained a stable customer base by providing quality products and fast, dependable service. We are now manufacturing anchor bolts, tie rods, bent bolts, concrete embedments, hot-forged headed bolts, hot-forged nuts, and standard as well as special products from carbon, alloy, stainless, and nickel alloy steels.
